Free Printable Coloring Page for Kids — Inspired by My Original Artwork

Today I’m excited to share a free printable coloring page created as a companion to my children’s book, When I grow up, what will I be? This illustration began as one of my original watercolor sketches from the book’s development process. I used Google Gemini to generate a line‑art rendering based on my artwork. This allowed me to create a version that parents and teachers can easily print and share with their little artists, especially those who may want to experiment with watercolor paint or explore creative expression in the classroom.

This page keeps the heart of the original illustration while giving young artists a simple, inviting space to imagine, create, and dream.

This post walks through the sketching, painting, and digital refinement steps that shaped the artwork in the book and ultimately inspired this coloring page.

Painting is a great way for children to explore imagination, calm, and fine‑motor skills. This printable works beautifully for:

  • Rainy day activity
  • Morning work
  • Early finishers
  • Calm‑down corners
  • Art centers
  • Weekend creativity

If your little one enjoys this activity, they may also love the full story that inspired it. When I grow up, what will I be? is all about finding happiness within and being true to yourself.

It makes a wonderful gift for:

  • Classroom libraries
  • Homeschool shelves
  • Social‑emotional learning lessons
  • Bedtime reading
