Illustrating the astronaut

Behind the scenes: Illustrating the astronaut

Grab your brushes and join Laura Teichen at the studio!

🖌️ Today I’m working on a special piece for Moonbeam Learning Studio’s upcoming book release of “When I grow up, what will I be?” 68 minutes of painting, condensed into just 80 seconds of magic! ✨ Watch the hyper-speed illustration of our newest character in this behind-the-scenes look at our astronaut.

I’m using a mix of watercolors brush pens, watercolor pencils, fineliner pens, and acrylic brush pens to bring this little explorer to life. This book incorporates concepts of social-emotional learning by reminding kids that they are already “enough,” no matter what job they choose. Whether you’re a budding artist or a parent looking for heart-centered stories, we hope this timelapse of the illustration process inspires you!
