ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Hi! I am Laura Teichen, a children’s author and illustrator who writes stories to help little ones feel seen, supported, and deeply loved. I’ve always lived between two worlds: the practical one built on logic and responsibility, and the imaginative one filled with color and whimsy. Motherhood is where those worlds finally met for me.
In April 2026, I released my first story: “When I grow up, what will I be?”.
If my stories resonate with you, please consider supporting the studio by shopping our catalog or leaving honest reviews for books you have read. Your kindness helps me feed my family and keep the moonbeams glowing for the next generation of readers.

Why I write for children
I grew up in an environment where safety and emotional connection were scarce. The few family members I could trust all placed a high value on achievement and success. I learned to be responsible, capable, and adaptable but I didn’t learn how to rest or feel like I was enough.
Those early experiences shaped my belief that every child deserves to feel safe to be yourself and to be able to feel and express emotions. I create content that teaches my son values of kindness, curiosity, and being true to yourself and I publish it to share with others who resonate with those messages. My husband, Alex, is my biggest supporter and helps me brainstorm ideas and refine each story.
Educational philosophy & pedagogy
True learning is a process, not a product. Our approach blends the tactile, self-correcting methods of Montessori with the child-led freedom & exploration of Unschooling. We view the home and the world as a laboratory where children are the lead researchers. Our approach involves optimizing the environment and removing the hurdles to their curiosity, allowing them to master skills through authentic, real-world application rather than forced instruction.
How I create my books
I use digital tools to explore composition and mood, then hand‑paint each final illustration using watercolor and mixed media to bring warmth and texture to every page.
