Teacher Appreciation Week

This week feels especially meaningful for our family. We just released When I grow up, what will I be? less than two weeks ago, and already 50+ copies have found a home with families. We are so grateful for every person who has supported this dream.

But there’s a deeper layer to this book.

My husband and I met in high school through an extracurricular club where we spent two to three days a week volunteering together. Giving back was a huge part of our relationship from the very beginning. When college and full‑time jobs came along, volunteering became less frequent… But after having our son, we felt pulled to reconnect with that part of ourselves. We wanted him to grow up seeing kindness in action.

So, we started searching for places where we could volunteer with an infant, and the first place that welcomed us was Lovepacs Little Elm. We went to the local food pantry and packed boxes for children who rely on free and reduced lunch and may go without food when school is out. It was labor‑intensive work, but it was deeply fulfilling. It reminded us why giving matters.

One of the pages in the book is all about kindness, and we illustrated a food pantry on that page to honor our first time volunteering as a family. It’s a small tribute to a moment that shaped us.

So this week, as we enter Teacher Appreciation Week and prepare for our upcoming events, we’re giving back in their honor. 10% of all profits earned between now and May 8 will be donated to Lovepacs Little Elm. And if you’d like to support Lovepacs directly, here are a few meaningful ways to help:

Thank you for helping this book do more than tell a story!

If you’ve already gotten your copy and the book brought a little magic into your home, we’d be so grateful if you left a review on Amazon. Your words help the book reach more families who love stories about kindness and imagination.
